nucleus_de Great new album from Ali Ferguson. First time I heard of his tasteful guitar playing as a member of Ray Wilson's touring band and on his last album.
This albuim contains really fantastic guitar work which should appeal to all friends of David Gilmour (not to say that he clones or is a copycat, it is just in the vein of his playing). So do yourself a favour and listen to this superb album. Favorite track: Stare Into Sunlight (Release/Control).

robertferg16 From the very beginning of Track 1, I knew I was going to love Ali's latest album. Cracking thunder, wailing loons, and stunning guitar reminiscent of David Gilmour's "Sorrow". Ali is known for his masterful playing and incredible songwriting. The Contemplative Power of Water is his best yet, with complex arrangements and beautiful lyrics that focus on the fundamental connections between Nature and humankind. Ali is among the best guitarists and songwriters on the planet. Congratulations, Ali! Favorite track: The Contemplative Power Of Water (Pt.I).

Grossartig!!! Ich bin begeistert!!
Ein Highlight!
Danke für diese tolle Musik!!!

Philip Pagin I have followed this artist for a few years now and he just gets better and better with each release.
His music is deceptively complex and requires multiple listens revealing more gems with each spin.
Favourite track so far is The Catacombs which has a stunning guitar solo which David Gilmour would be proud of.
If you enjoy melodic well structured progressive rock with thoughtful lyrics you will not be disappointed with this album.
I already know it’s one I will be returning to many times.
James Barry

James Barry Ali Fergusons third album, and arguably his best to date, although each has its own particular highlights. This album builds on the Prog Ambient nature of the previous two albums, but yet manages to take it to the next level.
It features shades of Pink Floyd and Mike Oldfield all wrapped in Ali's own indomitable style !
It also showcases some fine guitar work both acoustic and electric from Ali. A superb job...Well Done Ali !
Favorite track: The Catacombs.

This tiny planet has its own music, Its own beating heart and angelic voice. It forms its own laughter and creaking aches It cries its own tears and speaks its own tongues. And we hear it, In the ambient drones of the spheres, In the massed choirs of the morning birds and the healing vibrations of melody. We feel it in the warmth of the breaking sunlight, And in the oscillations of the man-made rhythms of industry And we sense it in the life bringing flow of the air and the contemplative power of water…
2.
So you interrupted the thread of things, Caused by a distant butterfly’s wings. Look for the helpers in times of need, Bombed out in shelters by execution speed. We’re constant told, we’re the children of men. To be bought and sold, used time and again. The answer lies, in these children of men, And the light in their eyes, being brighter than them. Calm below the surface, we hold our minds still. On to greater purpose, light bends towards our will.
3.
Keep on, there is nothing else, Without momentum we are lost. We’ve been making up fables, through static, All consciousness is thought. Through the deafening haze, a moment in time Pulls us towards it, pushes us forwards, So breathe sublime. Spiralling down through the fall, Like Autumn leaves turn when Summer is gone. And the whispers, the secrets that only we know, In the sounds of the river crows. Call out, a voice is heard, a connection to our past. You’ve been tired and unable, through panic, And all consequences lost. Through the breaking of dawns, the stillness of mind. That holds a light for us in the dark of the forest, That renders us blind.
4.
This is not all there is for us, this mortal life. You can stand on the edge of the world, watch science materialize. Wherever you find yourself, is the place you need to be. Come stand on the edge of the world and let go. Azure eyes stare into sunlight, You share the light and capture the still. As your eyes stare into sunlight, the heart decides, the head takes the fall. Release/Control We’ll find a new place for us, those Northern lights. We’ll stand on the edge of the world, low Borealis skies. Now this is a home for us, It’s the place we need to be. Come stand on the edge of the world and let go. Azure eyes stare into sunlight, You share the light and capture the still. As your eyes stare into sunlight, the heart decides, the head takes the fall. Release/Control

Four hundred miles up, there is calm in the Universe. On that little blue dot, the process of man, a shelter for all of us. Be here when the daylight wakes, Be here when the sun dries rain that falls. Be here when the cloudburst breaks, or you may never be here at all. Here stands a new dawn above grey and wretched stone. Light is forming day. We’ve made our way home, through the catacombs, We have found a way. From here on this rock, we follow the will of this guardian Universe, In silence we stop, a moment of still, a lesson for all of us Be here when the sirens cease, Be here when the floodgates breach the wall. Be here when you find your peace, or you may never be here at all. Here stands a new dawn above grey and wretched stone. Light is forming day. We’ve made our way home, through the catacombs, We have found a way.
7.
You carved a work of art, with a sharpened smile and a wooden heart. Now you pull the wires apart, in your own mind. There were days you could not tell, what was heaven and what was hell You reached out your hands as you fell, from a great height. Believe me it’s all right, we’re all made of starlight. Surrender to motion, You can’t hold an ocean. You watch your dreams take form, like drops of water will re-shape stone. And focus your thoughts into one, You will burn bright. Don’t hold…
8.
Beneath darkening skies, with tears in our eyes, We call ourselves broken, stripping it back to the bones of us. Eliminate time, from presence of mind, We’ll find ourselves hoping and crawl our way back to the arms of love. As we run from the shadows to the sun, we will learn to be. So, in turn, I touch four fingers to my thumb, Peace begins with me. We’re circling home, like birds in a storm. Our words are unspoken but burn with the light of a million suns. As we run from the shadows to the sun, we will learn to be. Space and form, for they are not two but one, Peace begins with me
9.
Conscience becoming clear, clear that you’ll find it here, In the contemplative power of water. Seek the face of love in everything, everything that’s happening, In the contemplative power of water. The stars and the moon you’ll see, reflections of cherry trees, In the contemplative power of water. As the birds sing their chorus and the days stretch before us, In the contemplative power of water. The memories of times to come, remembered now by everyone, In the contemplative power of water. We all think too much too fast, the silence it needs to pass, In the contemplative power of water. In the contemplative power of water… (Peace flows into me As the tide to the pool by the shore; It is mine forevermore, It will not ebb like the sea. I am the pool of blue That worships the vivid sky; My hopes were heaven-high, They are all fulfilled in you. I am the pool of gold When sunset burns and dies, You are my deepening skies; Give me your stars to hold…)

about

This new full length album explores themes of the re-connection of humans with nature, the finding of beauty and peace amongst a world full of anger and division and, most of all, the overwhelming ability for love and kindness to overcome adversity and hatred...
